]]> My first foray into molding and casting were these fantasy inspired doors. They seemed like a good starting point since they are relatively flat and any kind of bubbles or imperfections in the molding and casting would only add to the flavor.

I did three different doors: a metal jail cell door, wooden door with stone frame, and a wooden door with a rounded top.

The pouring of silicon went OK. I learned that it gets into every detail of your sculpt. So where I didn’t fully glue a board down to my base, it got underneath. It wasn’t too big of a deal as I was able to just tear it out and rip the silicon.

Here’s the three doors quickly primed and dry brushed. What’s nice about this mold is I can always pour leftover resin into from other projects and make more doors.
