*There’s always work to be done, but I doubt I’ll go back and really add anything.

Here’s the hauler primed and ready for paint. You can see the mast is already painted, so there’s a close up of this as well. I ended up repainting it blue to match the rest of the ship. The mast would be put in place when the winds are right so the hauler can save on fuel.

The hauler fully painted and weathered. The mast is tied down to the top and repainted blue. The bed of the hauler has all the necessary tools: winch, spare parts, tarps, and wood planks.

I am slowly plugging away at the Mörk Borg Miniatures Kickstarter by Westfalia Publishing. I really like their aesthetic and also ordered their gender swapped Lord of the Ring minis.

This model below is the troll. I had arbitrarily primed him a red so I went with it. I kind of Garfed him up a bit with an orange on his back and a brighter more yellow orange on his belly. I need to find a way to knock down the reflections in my photos because I did spend time highlighting his back and chest wrinkles/folds and they’re not really showing up. It’s a learning process.

Next up is the Esoteric Hermit. I really like the weathering on his scroll.

Here’s the Wrat. Apparently her left arm is supposed to be pointing upwards and coming out from the far side of her cloak and not pointing down coming from the inside. I still like the way it looks. This looks way better in person. I like that the bright yellow of her hair and bright blue of her cloak fits with the Mork Borg CMYK color scheme.

And finally the Narrator and what i think is a Berserker. I had a lot of fun with these two. Many layers of washes for the pile of skulls. I had a Warhammer bit of the two decapitated heads that I glued to the Beserker’s fist to make it look like he was dragging his prey around. I also like that the Berserker is like an old warrior with a bit of pudge and a receding hair line.

I think I’ve finally finished painting up all of the folk horrors from the Folk Horrors 2 Kickstarter. Pictured below are the Bellman, a Ragdevil, and another Bellman.

My goal on these was not to spend too much time on them. The sculpts really are asking to be drybrushed with all of their great textures. So I did a fair amount of that and also a fair amount of washes on top of washes. I think this really helps for things like bone.

I’m trying to get better at photography. For this one I actually got my Canon Rebel out of the closet and set up a light box. I’m working on multiple focuses and then combining them in Photoshop. I think the background is still more in focus than the models so I will try move the models further away from the camera for the next time.

I stumbled across Black Scorpion Miniatures and thanks to shipping from the UK, “had” to buy a whole bunch. I ended up getting a bunch of undead cowboys, undead pirates, a anthropomorphic duck wielding a SAW, and this ship’s cook and monkey captain.

I added some real sand and seashells and the monkey’s palm tree is from the bits box at the rummage sale. I believe it’s a Warhammer Catachan thing (whatever that is).

These models are from sculptor Ana Polanšćak’s 2023 Folk Horrors II Kickstarter. I had already picked up and painted the first set of Folk Horror minis from her so seeing this second set, it was an instant back for me. The minis are cast in metal and for the most part are one piece. This is only a few of them.

I kept the painting of these fairly simple. There’s so much texture on them, a dry brush goes a long way. On the bird guy I did a lot of dabbing on paint with a sponge to get a cool texture on the leather and bone.

Love this dude. He’s one of four rag devils apparently inspired by Hungarian and English folklore.

The two Hutas draw obvious inspiration from old wooden churches and baba yaga (the minis have little chicken feet).
